Description
Meet the destination of Chios through an agricultural activity at the unique area of Kampos.
The activity starts with a short walking around the area of Kampos and a briefing about the activity and the destination of Chios.
First stop is the citrus museum visit , located inside a traditional medieval mansion with an atmorpheric cafe and an amazing garden. In this visit you have the chance to get familiar with the destination, the meaning of citrus farms in the island and the local way of life from the medieval times till nowadays. (An optional greek coffee break following).
After a short walk you get in a traditional citrus orchard where a local farmer inform you about the history, varieties, pruning, grafting, flowering, etc. Walk among the fruit trees and collect your own oranges/mandarines ( in season November – May) till we concentrate the citrus crop for the tasting. At the end of the visit you will be able to taste typical Chian products, such as orange juice, tangerines (in season), Chios liqueurs, homemade jams and orange traditional desserts.
